SUMMARY:Mo(u)rning in America - Lecture by Dr. Lester Spence
DESCRIPTION:\n\nDr. Spence is an Associate Professor of Political Science and Africana Studies at The Johns Hopkins University.  He has published extensively on black and racial politics in urban spaces.  He has paid special attention to the role of media\, hip-hop and black politics\, and the increasing inequality within black communities.  Dr. Spence has appeared in NPR and the PBS NewsHour. \n \nIn his lecture on Wednesday evening Dr. Spence will use the lens of grief to talk about personal and political loss and the contours of a new politics in the United States.  He will be available to sign books at the end of the lecture.\n \nThis event is co-sponsored by the African American Studies program and the Department of Political Science.  It is funded by the Office of the Provost.  For further information please contact Dr. Hoda Zaki at hzaki@hood.edu\n \n\n
