Mo(u)rning in America – Lecture by Dr. Lester Spence

Dr. Spence is an Associate Professor of Political Science and Africana Studies at The Johns Hopkins University.  He has published extensively on black and racial politics in urban spaces.  He has paid special attention to the role of media, hip-hop and black politics, and the increasing inequality within black communities.  Dr. Spence has appeared in NPR and the PBS NewsHour. 
 
In his lecture on Wednesday evening Dr. Spence will use the lens of grief to talk about personal and political loss and the contours of a new politics in the United States.  He will be available to sign books at the end of the lecture.
